Information about hCG

By Jon Fe Greene

Let's consider exactly what the hCG diet is. The hCG diet was first implemented by Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, a British Endocrinologist, in 1954; during which he devoted much of his time to the examination of weight loss and obesity.

Dr. Simeons set up a practice in Italy, where he studied and practiced for many years, developing the hCG diet. His practice became known for its success with obesity. His patients all experienced rapid weight loss with little side effects and a high rate of accomplishment.

For many years he practiced medicine in Rome, developing a diet regimen that consisted of a very controlled, low calorie diet combines with the low dose administration of hCG. The consistent result was that his patients presented with rapid and significant weight loss.

Despite the low calorie diet over an extended period, The Doctor noted that his patients did not suffer the side effects associated with such a low caloric intake. Namely, hunger pains, headaches, irritability, and weakness. Not only were their side effects reduced, they also kept this rapid weight off.

The next natural question is what exactly is hCG. hCG is a hormone that is found in both males and females, yet it has a remarkable role in providing nutrients for unborn children. The hormone is called human chorionic gonadotropin, thus hCG. It is the principle agent that causes the hypothalamus to speed up the metabolism and prevent the body from going into survival mode (storing fats) during low caloric intake.

It is important to mention at this point that the hCG diet should be doctor supervised. It is important to realize that the weight loss from this diet can be dramatic. Thus, vital conditions such as diabetes, blood pressures and the medications that regulate them should be monitored.

As for the injections, all hCG injections must be prescribed by a Doctor. These injections are self administered by the diet patient, once every morning. The amount given is predetermined by the physician and relatively painless, as the needle goes just below the layer of skin.

The 500 calorie diet is fairly liberal. The only thing restricted for the first 23 days or so are alcohol, dairy products, and of course, sugars and carbs. Fresh fruit is taken into consideration based on its sugar content. Remember , the goal is to get the body to draw off stored fats, sugar will provide too much energy and actually can become stored fat in the system.

Many manufacturers claim to offer hCG in drops, creams, and tablets. These are not hCG products. These products are homeopathic supplements and not hCG. The only way that hCG is available in the U.S. is by a Doctor's prescription.

In summary, the hCG diet is a dynamic and fast way to lose weight. One of the keys to your success is to find a supportive and competent physician who understands the dieting process and has the ability to properly monitor you and support your goals. Also, they have the expertise to give you ancillary support, such as counseling . The goal is to lose weight and keep it off, thus the physician is an important part of your team.
